About Dr. Poornima Shankar
Poornima Shankar is a nutritionist with a wide range of experience from generalized nutrition counseling to providing critical care nutrition in hospitals. She has provided medical nutrition therapy at Raritan Bay Medical Centre, New Jersey for about 6 years. She has worked in corporate nutrition at Gerber Foods (then Novartis), in the areas of claim development and substantiation, competitor benchmarking and writing PR articles in nutrition for print and electronic media. She is also, well versed in brand development support, brand building activities, food labeling, product development and regulatory affairs. Poornima has taught Food Sciences and nutrition to senior students as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York and Mount Carmel College, Bangalore. She is currently working as a Nutritionist at Hindustan Unilever Research Centre, Bangalore supporting their corporate agenda and their food brands such as Brook Bond, Lipton, Knorr, Kissan and Kwality Walls. She also broadly supports various nutrition related projects throughout the Asia region.
